Tunnel Vision 5
Opening Night
Tiphanie Kim Mall
TUNNEL TUNNEL is pleased to invite you to the screening of “Opening Night” as part of the Tunnel Vision program on Thursday, June 11, at 7 pm at the Cinéma Bellevaux, with the artist present.
45 minutes
Free Entrance
Opening Night (2026) was staged and filmed at the opening of Tiphanie Kim Mall’s exhibition at the artist-run space Tunnel Tunnel in Lausanne.
The film was shot with several roving cameras, all rolling simultaneously. Camera operators include the artists mother, partners and friends, exhibition hosts, visitors, some teenagers and a dog. We see each camera and operator at various moments and from all sides. We see what they see, how they look and how they are being looked at.
Multiple versions of the same evening are recorded and rearranged in the edit to kaleidoscopic effect. With the action orbiting around Mall herself, relationships and roles get scrambled—the artwork, its presentation, its participants, its viewers and its author are all here to be seen at once, and again.
Thank you to Sophie Ballmer, Gina Proenza, Guillaume Pilet, Tania Götz, Andreas Kalbermatter, Flora Klein, Dominique Mall, Martin Schnyder, Rose & Alice, Fanny, and all the visitors to the opening for their participation in the making of the film.
Tunnel Vision is a programme for the promotion, production and distribution of artists’ films initiated in 2020 and is supported by the Leenaards Foundation. Tunnel Tunnel also warmly thanks Cinéma Bellevaux.
