Made by the hand? Made by the mouth image

As we are closed for the moment, and we don’t have the possibility of organizing an opening, Tunnel Tunnel has decided to invest its space – the vitrine part at the front of the building – with an exhibition by the Lausanne artist Laure Marville, visible only from the outside. In order to continue to show artists’ works during these uncertain times, we open the first NO SHOW ROOM: a space-time of non-exhibition, an exhibition space between two re-openings. Since the circumstances of the closing of the space obliged the artists and the collective to set up a project in a short time, we designed NO SHOW ROOM in order to invite people to invest the window space of Tunnel Tunnel with already produced works. The exhibition Made by the hand? Made by the mouth by Laure Marville is accessible and visible at all times from the outside, from 08.12.20 to 03.01.20. Any request for the acquisition of a work can be addressed to the Tunnel Tunnel collective or directly to the artist.

Often flexible and always multi-layered, the work of Laure Marville (1990, CH) is organized like a heuristic map. The various techniques and materials she uses – such as manual printing, engraving, text, sewing or embroidery – are organized according to a structure of codes and references supporting a complex and non-hierarchical thought mechanism. Her interest in so-called craft practices can be linked with the idea of domesticity, friendship and organic collaborations. The artist sets up a system of references and quotations that allow her to express her own values, such as the freedom of access to knowledge or the emancipation of women’s voices.
