‘Chris Kauffmann’s practice is full of crossovers, mainly between video and painting. Chris Kauffmann combines the codes of amateur video with those of painting, questioning the hierarchy between artistic genres. Collage, mixing, editing, borrowing and repetition are used to develop works that investigate the construction of identity through ‘timid’ portraits. […]

Chris Kauffmann (*1999, Geneva) lives and works between Geneva and Paris. After studying at the École nationale supérieure d’arts de Paris-Cergy, he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts with a major in Painting/Drawing from HEAD - Geneva in 2022, and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree at the Beaux-Arts de Paris. His work has been shown in a number of art spaces in Geneva, including Forde, Cherish, Picto, the 5th floor of the Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève and the Lovay Fine Arts gallery, as well as at Wallstreet in Fribourg, La Rada in Locarno, the Eva Presenhuber gallery in New York, Binz39 in Zurich and the Basel Social Club.’
