Tunnel Tunnel is pleased to present a solo exhibition of Jean-Christophe Huguenin:
Very very circus
Jean-Christophe Huguenin practices a colorful and refined art that he skillfully inserts into the space. A festive and pop-inspired vocabulary combined with minimal grammar. If he seems to have integrated the composition number 10 of La Monte Young – Draw a straight line and follow it – the apparent linearity of his work is disrupted by an infinity of small breaks, as if that line was subject to a Xenon paradox. The pebble in the shoe is the apparent performative potential of a single object or the reminiscence of a collective ritual. The line is clear but what it circumscribes summons the irrational or the unreasonable. The mannerist distortion of the minimal model also operates through drawing, or rather the drawings produced on a daily basis, of which new sequences unfold in numerous notebooks elaborated by the artist.
Active members of the Lausanne cultural scene are also invited to join the artist. As a co-founder of Curtat Tunnel with Tatiana Rhis, Maud Constantin and Philippe Daerendinger, Jean-Christophe Huguenin has also taken part in several musical projects (Vague DJ’s, Velma, Hélas) and notably worked in a collective with Aloïs Godinat and Denis Savary.
