L'origine du monde image

Tunnel Tunnel is pleased to invite you to the opening on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 6 pm, of the exhibition L’origine du monde by Jazmín López.

This exhibition will be featuring her latest installation developed during her residency at La Becque. This work is an evolution of her project first unveiled at the Venice Biennale. The show underscores a shared commitment to fostering cutting-edge explorations at the crossroads of visual art, film, and theoretical inquiry.

At the heart of the installation is an exploration inspired by Jacques Lacan’s possession of Gustave Courbet’s provocative painting The Origin of the World. López leverages this intriguing historical detail to delve into how owning such a charged image can illuminate the intricacies of image production and, by extension, psychological projection. Her focus lies in the painting’s inherent first-person perspective, a mechanism of subjectivization, that provokes unease, compelling viewers to confront the intensity and implications of their own gaze. Tailored for Tunnel Tunnel’s unique, cavernous setting, this adaptation amplifies motifs of concealment and exposure, offering Lausanne’s art community an intimate, thought-provoking encounter with themes of perception, desire, and visual power.

This exhibition is presented in co-production with La Becque and ECAL.
